When it comes to makeup, I believe the more a woman has in her collection, the less it seems, especially when we talk about lip products.
You want to make sure you have all the possible pinks, browns, reds and what not. So did I. I always wanted to make sure I had the prettiest of the pinks (being my favorite color). So I ended up purchasing a few lip products in pink. One such lip product I purchased was Inglot AMC Lip Pencil shade number 29. I bought this product along with a few others which I found absolutely stunning at the Inglot store. So, here is my review of Inglot AMC Lip Pencil #29.
Inglot AMC Lip Pencil #29 comes in a black carton casing (after unboxing it, I trashed the carton case). The pencil inside it has a black jumbo case. There is a cap that protects it.
There are two versions to this pencil. One is that comes with a sharpener at the base. And it is also retractable and it is priced at Rs. 1050/-
The one I have reviewed is a simple pencil that is non-retractable and has no sharpener at the base.
Similar to MAC’s lipsticks, you have to remember the number of the product because unlike other similar products, there is no color on the packaging of the pencil.
What I Liked About The Product
To begin with let me talk about the shade. Inglot AMP Lip Pencil in number 29 is a very soft shade of pink. To be precise, it is a very iridescent pink color which has a purple undertone to it. For those who don’t know what an undertone means, in simple terms, it is just the tinge of the shade it has. For example, this Inglot AMC in #29 is otherwise soft pink in (surface) color but when you actually look at it, it has a purple tinge to it as well. These undertones really affects the way a product looks on your skin. So, this wonderful double effect is my like number 1 for the product.
Secondly, this very subtle shade of pink is perfect for both night and day wear. Obviously, depending on your overall makeup. This shade of pink would be absolutely stunning with a black smoky eye.
Third comes longevity offered by a product. One thing that you always look for when purchasing a lip product is how long it stays. The longer the staying power, the more likely we are to purchase it. And, Inglot AMC Lip Pencil #29 stays on for at least 7-8 hours. The reason being, it is not a moist lip product. Normally more the moisture, lesser is the staying power of the product. This is a very dry matte product which makes it stay on your lips for a longer time.
Fourth and most amazing one is that it works like a lip pencil/liner and a lip filler both. Gone are the days when we had to purchase a near perfect shade of a lip liner to go with our favorite lipstick. Now we have products like Inglot AMC Lip Pencil #29 which works both ways – lipstick+lip liner.
And, I think I must tell you that this product is free from all harmful chemicals and not tested on animals. So, perfectly okay for your skin.
Things I Disliked
Now, to begin with things that I disliked about the product, I would like to start by saying that this product is not retractable; it does not retract and extend outside when twisted from the end. This also means that when the tip has become so flat that you can’t use it anymore, you have to use a sharpener to be able to reuse it.
Secondly, using a sharpener is not a problem, but you have to buy a non-retractable version of this, if you are looking for a pencil with sharpener. And, the worst part is, you have to pay extra for that.
Third thing that disturbed me the most was its cap. After a few uses, I noticed that the cap behind the pencil was loose and the other day it came off on its own. So I’m highly doubtful about the quality of the cap.
The fourth negative that I experienced with this product was its matte shade; it is not a moist matte. This means that it has no moisturizer in it and when you apply it, your lips feel dry. To avoid that dryness, you have to use a lip balm or a lip gloss. I think, there is no point of using a gloss additionally. And, this is why it won’t work on chapped lips.
The fifth reason for not liking it – you cannot use it if you have a pale skin tone. This shade of pink with a purple undertone only makes things worse; it will make your skin look even more pale. So please consider this point before you purchase it.
Finally, it is a bit expensive. And, when you know that you need an additional gloss to make it work better and you cannot use it if you have a pale complexion or chapped lips, I don’t think spending this much money is justifiable.(line break)
However, to use it as a lip liner you will have to sharpen it. You can see that with continuous use, it does get a little worn out and flat from the tip.
