To err is human; we all know this and to not to accept our mistakes – again not human. No denial, but most of us hate when people introduce us with ‘true us.’ In fact, who wants to listen to criticism because in our own books we all are perfect and everyone else needs an amendment, but not us. However, “True change is within; leave the outside as it is,” said Dalai Lama. Accepting the course of our life can be a daunting task and is a much more difficult task for many of us. Why is it important to accept oneself, and how you as a person would get it done?

Before saying anything else, allow me to say that “self-acceptance is a good basis for a happy life. If you yourself accept the way you are, you will feel comfortable in your skin. You do not feel insecure, you do not feel imperfect or incapable. You feel that you are close to you, and you are good as you are.” By learning to accept yourself, you can actually lift your life to a higher level. This will not only stronger your self-confidence, but will also offer you more time and energy for other important things. Should you conquer your insecurities and doubts, you would be able to do what you want to do. I agree, self-acceptance is neither an easy nor a quick process, but at the end, you have to start from somewhere for better results!

Accept That You Can Make Mistakes

Everyone makes mistakes, and everybody is allowed to make mistakes because if you are not making one, you are probably not doing anything. Without making a mistake you won’t be able to make things perfect and you won’t be to learn your shortcomings. Only after you master yourself at accepting your mistakes, you will be able to replace the word errors by results. We know, everything we do lead to results and if results are not good, you are free to name those actions as desirable or undesirable. Once you face negative results, you then need re-invest your efforts with a completely different approach.

This is the only way to success. You need to understand that making a mistake is not a value judgment about whom you are and what you can. It is only an undesirable outcome resulting from your actions or approach. You can and should learn from this. But, this will only happen if you are ready to accept your mistake. So do not be afraid to do things wrong, and do not fret too much on. Learn from your mistakes and move on with your life.

Accept And Appreciate Your Body

Your body is the organism that gives you life. You only have one body that you are not going to get back once you are done with it. Stop expecting magics from your body. I have seen people doing all sorts of crazy stuff with their body. Dare to contradict me, as this will not change anything within you; I mean your psychology. The sooner you understand that your body is your body, and that will always remain the same, the better it will be for you.

Stop living in any sort of inferiority complex and accept your body as it is. You need to drop all those thoughts that you do not look like a model or something. Learn another way to look at people. Do your best to see beauty in every person, in everybody. Every person is different, every body is unique. That is something beautiful, something you can appreciate. So accept the body you have been given and see your own beauty.

Accept That You Cannot Change The Past

Bygones are bygones. Things that have happened cannot be changed. You know that you cannot turn back the time, then, what is the Point? Therefore, stop fussing about what has happened. Look ahead, and accept your life as it has been formed so far. Realize that your past determines who you are, where you are now and what you do now. Your past, pleasant or not pleasant, makes you unique. The past is fixed. You can keep worrying, but it will not change anything. The future is open. If you want to get rid of your past, you need to move on.

Accept the Opinions of Others

The world is full of advisors; you can have as many suggestions as you want, for free and regardless of time. Faultfinders are everywhere are people and if other people find something of yours, that’s okay. Everyone can have their own opinion and they are free to paste those anywhere. Remember that no one knows you better than you and, hence, they have their own version of your story. Therefore, you should not rely upon or bother about their judgment.

I agree, it hurts, but the trick is to make the positive voice in your head stronger than the negative voice of others. Do not let belittle, do not walk all over you. You know you’re awesome. You do not ignore other opinions, but you can objectively assess and decide whether you are going to do something about it or not in your life. Others have not necessarily equal, so take it not always be true. Especially if it has a negative impact on your self-image.

Accept Your Responsibility

You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the season, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charged of. Jim Rohn

You are responsible for everything you think, everything you say and everything you do. You are (partly) responsible for the consequences of your thoughts, words, and actions. And, besides that you yourself are responsible for seeing the connection between your actions and the consequences that have. What does that mean? That you are responsible for your own happiness. If you want to be completely happy, then you have to realize this yourself because no one will come to make you happy, no matter how hard you hope. If you feel rotten and you expect people to come and ask you how you are doing, you are driving on the roadside. No one is coming to ask you. You control a big part of your life, so take responsibility and accept that you can take the reins in your hands. Do not forget that, blaming others for your faults will only work until you left with nobody around, but yourself to blame.

Also, you need to accept how to let it go. Make yourself feel free and help your brain understand that everything is good as it is. Accepting yourself is letting go of all your doubts and uncertainties, and any judgments about yourself. Stop putting yourself into useless storms of the thoughts.

Let it go and realize that you’re good as you are, you are perfect the way you are, and keep telling yourself – “I am happy with whom I am.”
